William Brooks

William "Bill" Brooks, age 79, of 865 Pinehurst Road, Ellenboro, NC, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Fair Haven Home.
A native of Rutherford County, He was a son of the late Oliver Odell Brooks and Arzie Katherine Goforth Brooks. Bill owned and operated Brooks Wrecker Service for over 20 years before retiring. Many a weary traveler would recall Bill coming to the rescue after an automobile breakdown. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Melton Brooks and one brother Claudius S. Brooks.
He is survived by five sons, Gary Brooks and his wife Lisa, Ricky Brooks and Debbie, Steve Brooks, Dan Brooks and his wife Joy all of Ellenboro, and Billy Brooks of Spindale; one daughter, Connie Bradley of Caroleen; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
