William “Bill” Campbell, Sr., age 88, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Bill was born Sunday, May 27, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late Daniel Howard Campbell and Myrtle Dora Lackey Campbell. He was employed by Stonecutter Mill-Spindale Plant for over forty-years and was a member of Piney Mountain Baptist Church in Ellenboro. Bill enjoyed reading and working on word puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-two years, Martha Allred Campbell; sisters, Christine Vassey, Nora Belle Adair, Mildred Bradley, Pat Smith and Nina King; brothers, Luther Campbell, Ben Adams and Gerald Campbell.
Left to cherish fond memories are his daughter, Viki Brooks (Tim) of Bostic; sons, Phillip Campbell of Henrietta, Chris Campbell of Cliffside and William “Billy” Campbell, Jr. (Donna) of Shiloh; sisters, Sue Bostic of Bostic, Mittie Rumfelt of Forest City and brother, Earl Campbell (Shirley) of Forest City. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kimberly Byers, Phillip Campbell, Jr., Misty Jill Campbell, Ariel Campbell, Raven Campbell, Brionna Campbell, Kyla Bumgarner, Kelly Brooks, Caleb Campbell and two great-grandchildren, Jade Campbell and Tucker Bumgarner.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Paul White officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Forest City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
