Bill Thomassen, age 60, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Bill was born Monday, January 23, 1961 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He worked for the City of Shelby in the gas department for thirty years before retirement. Bill also worked as a funeral assistant for Harrelson Funeral Home for several years and also as the owner and operator of the Thomassen Family Campground. He enjoyed growing plants and gardening. Bill was a dedicated Christian, husband, father, son and friend. Bill had a heart for others and always thought of their needs before his own. He was a faithful member of Adaville Baptist Church. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” were the first words he heard from his heavenly Father.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Herman Thomassen and in-laws, Bob and Martha Jean Sellers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of twenty-six years, Tammy Sellers Thomassen; mother, Delores “Dee” Philbeck (Gene) of Grover, NC; son, Johnathon Horn (Yurona Pillay) of Boston, Massachusetts; brother, James “Jim” Thomassen (Teresa) of Gastonia and many extended family member and friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Adaville Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Pate and Reverend Jeff Watts officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
