Willis Shew

Willis "Slim" Shew, age 76, of Race Path Church Road, Ellenboro, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Oak Grove Nursing Center.
Born Thursday, December 28, 1939 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Lester Shew and Francis Greene Shew. He worked for Hoechst Celanese-Spartanburg Plant for over thirty years before retiring. Willis was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed gardening and was known for his ability as a story teller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Doug Shew.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-five years, Martha H. Shew; daughter, Renee S. Morris and life companion, Tracy White of Forest City; son, Michael Shew of Ellenboro and special friend, Brandi Saine; one sister, Becky Quinn of Forest City; three grandchildren, Ashley Hardin (Brent), Hunter Shew and Molly Shew; three step-grandchildren, Traisha Campfield (Dustin), Taryn White and Memphis Saine. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews which includes a special nephew, Ronald Henson.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Wayne Powell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060.
